If you are looking for more budget style meals, then there are some exceptional choices for you. First of all, you should be aware that budget food in Cambodia means that the prices are what you would likely pay for an appetizer in most Western countries. The costs are extremely low for what you get, and you will love the food and the price.
Asian Spice Café Pub
If you are looking for something that is more regional, the Asian Spice Café Pub is the right place for you. This is a pub that serves foods from China, Singapore, Malaysia, and Khmer dishes. You can get Western style dishes here as well and entrees run no more than $2.80. Very reasonable and tasty for sure.
Happy Herb Pizza
The Happy Herb Pizza has four locations and serves some of the best pizzas you will find. At about $8.00 for a large pizza it is not only reasonably priced and extremely tasty.
The Baitong Restaurant serves authentic dishes from Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. They have a great breakfast and lunch buffet that is $2 at breakfast and $3.75 at lunch. For what is served, you will be amazed by the price.
Home Away from Home
Home Away from Home is a family style restaurant that is quite similar many of the all day breakfast restaurants you would be familiar with like IHOP or Denny’s. The servers here are very friendly, but when this place is crowded you may be waiting. At $2 for the average entrée, it is well worth the wait.
NOW Snack Shop
NOW Snack Shop has a wide variety of Vietnamese snacks, as well as coffee, juice, tea, and frozen yogurt. There is nothing on the menu that is worth more than $2.
Moving onto more restaurant style places, it starts with the Blue Cat. A very friendly restaurant that serves international dishes and is well-known for the Khmer cuisine. Fantastic food and a quality wine list.
The Equinox is a place that specializes in providing many of the western style dishes that people love so much. This includes such things as pizza, burgers, pasta, and much more. the salads are incredible, and all the ingredients are grown by farmers that are in and around the city.
Friends Restaurant features foods from all over the world, but where they really specialize is in their vegetarian dishes. They have a beautiful restaurant that has a fantastic garden terrace. The food is great and the service is wonderful.
Khmer Surin is a restaurant that features Khmer and Thai foods. What you will really love about this restaurant is the seafood specialties. Since the fish is extremely fresh and mixed with the incredible herbs and spices of the area, you will not find food like it anywhere.
The Pop Café is a small Italian restaurant that serves some of the best pasta dishes you will ever taste. In fact, this is a stop that many specifically choose to make when they come to Phnom Penh because they have heard such good things about it.
The 50Cents Café is one other one that should be mentioned, not only for its great food but also for the cocktails that they provide. They have great Western dishes and Thai food, while also providing some of the tastiest fresh fruit platters you will have and amazing homemade ice cream. There is also a lot of local art that is displayed and they show movies on a small cinema.
If you are looking to really splurge and, again, understand that splurge what you would pay for an average restaurant in Europe or the United States, then here are some great choices for you. The Fifth Element is a great place to start. This is located on the roof of the La Maisond’Ambre Hotel, and serves some of the best French and Khmer foods you can eat. The bar serves just about any drinks you desire, and the food is unbelievably tasty. At about $30 per person, it is a bit on the expensive side, but the costs are unbelievable for the food you will eat and the service you will receive.
FCC Phnom Penh
FCC Phnom Penh serves a wide variety of colonial style foods that are unbelievably tasty. They also have incredible deserts, and at $20 for the average cost of a meal it is really amazing. This place is not air-conditioned, so try to come here when it is a cooler part of the day.
Le Wok is right near the National Museum, and serves French and Asian dishes. This place looks really amazing when you are indoors, and they have just remodeled even making it more impressive. The food is really good and the service is first rate. It costs about $20 per person, which is extremely reasonable for the amount and taste of this food.
Le Quay serves Western and Asian dishes, and has great lunch specials as well as a full dinner menu. Many love this place because it is right along the riverside, which makes for a beautiful view while you eat, especially if you are sitting out on the terrace. This is one of the most popular places for tourists.
